Pricing of documentary photography on the art market in the Czech Republic after the year 2000

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá teoretické přístupy k tvorbě ceny dokumentárních fotografií a faktory, jež ovlivňují výši její ceny. Cílem práce je ověřit teoretické poznatky v prostředí českého trhu s uměním. V první části práce je vymezena ekonomická teorie cenotvorby, přístupy k tvorbě cen na primárním a sekundárním trhu a faktory, které dle odborné literatury mají vliv na výši ceny. Následně jsou teoretické poznatky ověřovány v prostředí českého trhu z pohledu fotografů, zaměstnanců aukčních domů, soukromého sběratele, teoretika fotografie a soudního znalce. Závěr práce popisuje, jaké faktory jsou důležité pro ocenění dokumentární fotografie na českém trhu s uměním a přístupy aktérů k tvorbě cen na místním trhu. Tato práce poskytuje celkový vhled do prostředí problematiky, která v českém prostředí ještě nebyla důkladně popsána.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on theoretical approaches to the pricing of documentary photography and factors affecting its price levels. The aim of this work is to verify theoretical knowledge through the Czech art market. The first part of the work defines an economic theory of pricing, approaches to pricing in the primary and the secondary market and factors that, according to the literature, have an impact on the price levels. Afterwards, theoretical knowledge is verified through the Czech art market from the perspective of photographers, employees of auction houses, a private collector, a theorist of photography and an expert. The final part of this work describes which factors are important for the pricing of documentary photography in the Czech art market, approaches to pricing and the structure of the local market. This work provides a general insight into an issue that has not yet been described in depth in the Czech area.
