Corporate social responsibility and its importance in contemporary society

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku společenské odpovědnosti firem. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části je vymezen pojem CSR a popsán jeho historický vývoj. V dalších kapitolách teoretické části se diplomová práce zabývá oblastmi společenské odpovědnosti, aktivitami a přínosy CSR, konceptem společenské odpovědnosti v České republice, ale i na úrovni EU, dále také komunikací a reportováním CSR. Cílem diplomové práce je, na základě vyslovené hypotézy o přínosu CSR, provést porovnání současné situace v uplatňování a způsobu prezentování CSR aktivit ve vybraných firmách v ČR a v zahraničí. V praktické části bude na základě analýzy veřejně dostupných, ale i interních dokumentů a informací provedeno porovnání uplatnění a reportování společenské odpovědnosti firem ve dvou konkrétních obchodních řetězcích. Na základě porovnání uplatňování CSR v praxi vybraných obchodních řetězců budou následně předloženy návrhy pro nové oblasti uplatňování a způsoby prezentování CSR aktivit v rámci českých poboček obou firem.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the corporate social responsibility. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part defines the concept of CSR and describes its historical development. The work deals in the next section theoretical part with the corporate social responsibility, activities and benefits CSR, with the concept of corporate social resposibility in the Czech Republik and EU level but also with communication and reporting of CSR. The hypotheses about the benefits of CSR is expressed in the diploma thesis. The aim of this work is to compare the current situation in the application and methods resented CSR activities in selected companies in the Czech Republic and abroad. The comparison by application and reporting of the corporate social responsibility will be in the practical part based on an analysis of publicly available as well as internal documents and information in two specific business chains. The suggestions for new areas of application and methods presentation CSR activities within the Czech branches of bouth companies will be presented on the basis of the comparison of the application of CSR in practice at selected business chains.
