Analysis of Pinochets´s regime in Chile in years 1973-1990.

Abstract:

Práce nejprve vyzdvihne historické události a vývoj Chile od roku 1970, kdy byl demokraticky zvolen prezident Salvador Allende, který byl o 3 roky později sesazen převratem vedeným armádou. Tímto převratem byl nastolen téměř 17 let trvající režim junty v čele s generálem Augustem Pinochetem Ugartem.Dále se práce bude zabývat analýzou tohoto režimu. Pro jeho charakteristiku bude v práci použita typologie Juana Josého Linze, konkrétně typologie autoritářských režimů, kterou sepsal v díle Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes. Režim bude charakterizován na základě čtyř hlavních znaků autoritářských režimů, které Linz definoval: limitovaný pluralismus, mobilizace, mentalita a vůdcovství.V další části bude práce analyzovat konkrétní typ autoritářského režimu dle J. J. Linze, v tomto případě byrokraticko-militaristický. Práce zdůrazní důvody, proč Pinochetovo Chile zařadil právě do tohoto typu a provede analýzu role armády, jejíž primární pozice je některými autory zpochybňována.

Abstract:

The Thesis will firstly highlight historical events and development in Chile since 1970, when president Salvador Allende was elected democratically, whereas he was de-posed by military coup led by the army. Since that time the 17 years lasting junta regime with the leadership of general August Pinochet Ugart started.Further, the thesis will analyse this regime, whereas the typology by Juan José Linz will be used, namely his typology of authoritarian regimes drawn up in the book Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes. The regime will be characterized on the basis of 4 main features of authoritarian regimes, which were defined by Linz: limited pluralism, mobilisation, mentality and leadership.Further, the thesis will analyze a specific type of authoritarian regime according to J.J.Linz – the bureaucratic-militaristic in this case. The thesis will emphasize reasons, why Linz classified Pinochtet´s regime in Chile as this type and will analyse the role of army, whose primal position was being called into question by some authors.
