Abstract:
This thesis focuses on modern adaptations of Shakespearean original works for young adults and how they manage to portray the themes of love, self-discovery and empowerment. The modern adaptations are Romeo + Juliet (1996) by Baz Luhrmann, 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) by Gil Junger, and She’s the Man (2006) by Andy Fickman.
