Maturation and Evolution of the Main Character in Dany Laferrière's work

Abstract:

The topic of this Bachelor’s thesis is evolution and maturation of the main character reappearing in the three chosen works written by a Canadian author of Haitian origin Dany Laferrière. The main objective is to describe and analyse the phases of the maturation process of the main character captured in the above mentioned works – childhood, adolescence and adulthood. The analysis is based on three postmodern themes (identity, sexuality and cultural affiliation) which play crucial role in every phase of this maturation process.

Abstract:

Témou tejto bakalárskej práce je vývoj a dozrievanie hlavnej postavy, ktorá sa znovu objavuje v troch vybraných dielach kanadského autora haitského pôvodu Danyho Laferrièra. Hlavným cieľom je popísanie jednotlivých etáp vývoja a dozrievania tejto postavy zachytených v analyzovaných dielach – detstvo, roky dospievania a zrelý vek – na základe troch vybraných postmoderných tém, ktoré predstavujú neoddeliteľnú súčasť procesu dozrievania, a to identity, sexuality a kultúrnej prináležitosti.
