The Quality of Life of Pupils Suffering from Celiac Disease Viewed by Primary School Teachers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Kvalita života žáků s diagnózou celiakie z pohledu učitelů základních škol" se věnuje problematice onemocnění zvaného celiakie. Teoretická část přináší informace o historii a charakteristice celiakie. Podrobně se zabývá i klinickými projevy celiakie a diagnózou tohoto onemocnění. Rovněž je zde uveden i přehled komplikací vyskytujících se u celiakie, její léčba a následná terapie. Dále se věnuje i problematice bezlepkové diety, především pak výčtem těch potravin, které jsou při bezlepkové dietě nejen povolené, ale i zakázané. V neposlední řadě se zaměřuje i na legislativní opatření a vzdělávání těchto žáků. Empirická část diplomové práce analyzuje formou kvalitativního výzkumu, ale i kvantitativního šetření především to, do jaké míry celiakie ovlivňuje kvalitu života jedinců s touto diagnózou a i to, jakým způsobem zasahuje do rodinného, ale i soukromého života jedinců, kteří tímto onemocněním trpí.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis “The Quality of Life of Pupils Suffering from Celiac Disease Viewed by Primary School Teachers” deals with the issue of celiac disease. The theoretical part brings the information about its history and its features. It also deals with its clinical manifestations and the diagnosis itself in detail. The summary of its complications, the treatment and the resulting therapy is also included here. The thesis is further concerned with the issue of the gluten-free diet, especially with the list of food, which is allowed but also forbidden. Last but not least it focuses on the legislative measures and the education of these pupils. The empirical part of the paper analyses how the celiac disease influences the quality of life of its patients and how it is involved in their families and their private lives. This part is written in a form of a qualitative survey.
