All my loved ones: The influence of parentification on the position of friends in attachment, support seeking and affiliative behavior hierarchies of adolescents

Abstract:

Tato práce je součástí projektu Všichni moji blízcí pod záštitou Institutu výzkumu dětí, mládeže a rodiny při Fakultě sociálních studií Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Cílem práce bylo podchytit vztahy mezi věkem, parentifikací, rozdělenou na instrumentální, emocionální ze strany matky a emocionální ze strany otce a postavením přátel v hierarchiích citových vazeb, afiliačního chování a vyhledávání podpory u adolescentů. Výzkum probíhal metodou dotazníkového šetření a do analýz bylo zahrnuto 149 adolescentů (M = 15,26) ze tří gymnázií v Brně a okolí. Z výsledků mnohonásobné lineární regrese vyplynulo, že věk a ani jeden z určených typů parentifikace nejsou signifikantními prediktory pro postavení přátel v hierarchiích citových vazeb, afiliačního chování, nebo vyhledávání podpory u adolescentů. Výzkum přináší nový dotazník parentifikace a jiný úhel pohledu na problematiku vztahových hierarchií.

Abstract:

This thesis is part of the project Všichni moji blízcí conducted by the Institute for Research on Children, Youth and the Family at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno. Aim of this thesis was to detect relationships between age, parentification, divided into instrumental, maternal emotional and paternal emotional and position of friends in adolescent’s attachment, affiliative behaviour and support-seeking hierarchies. Research was done by survey method and there were 149 adolescents (M = 15,26) from three high schools in Brno and neighbourhood to analyse. From results of multiple linear regression, it was clear that age and any type of parentification are not significant predictors for position of friends in adolescent’s attachment, affiliative behaviour or support-seeking hierarchies. Thesis brings new parentification questionnaire and different point of view to concept of relationship hierarchies.
