Rehabilitation of patient with chronic renal failure and its effect on physical and functional fitness

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the chronic renal failure issues and brings in the possibilities of physiotherapeutic treatment of these patients. We have examined in detail the effect of 20-week aerobic exercise training during hemodialysis sessions, consisting of bed-side ergometer combined with stretching exercises and lower limb relaxation exercises. Since patients with the disease often suffer from hypomobility, reduced fitness and the consequent restrictions in everyday life, we have watched for any change of their physical and functional fitness after completing this type of training. We have evaluated the effectiveness of training by comparing the monitored parameters (SF, VO2peak, Wpeak, distance walked), measured during entry and exit examinations, consisting of spiroergometry and 6-minute walking test. The results were objectively measurable changes, reflecting positively on the physical condition and daily life of the patients.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca približuje problematiku CHRZ a možnosti rehabilitácie týchto pacientov. Podrobnejšie sme skúmali vplyv 20 týždňového intradialytického aeróbneho tréningu na bed-side ergometri, v kombinácii so strečingom a uvoľňovacími cvikmi dolných končatín. Keďže pacienti s týmto ochorením často trpia hypomobilitou, zhoršenou kondíciou a z toho vyplývajúcim obmedzením v každodennom živote, zaujímala nás zmena ich telesnej a funkčnej zdatnosti po absolvovaní tohto typu tréningu. Efektivitu tréningu sme zhodnotili porovnaním sledovaných parametrov (SF, VO2peak, Wpeak, prejdená vzdialenosť), nameraných počas vstupného a výstupného vyšetrenia, pozostávajúceho zo spiroergometrie a 6 minútového chodeckého testu. Výsledkom boli objektívne merateľné zmeny, pozitívne sa odzrkadľujúce na kondícii a v každodennom živote pacientov.
