Health literacy of older adults in relation to Covid-19 (scoping review)

Abstract:

Starší dospělí jsou zvláště zranitelní vůči COVID-19 kvůli základnímu zdravotnímu stavu a potenciálním mezerám ve zdravotní gramotnosti. Tento přehled zkoumá existující studie o zdravotní gramotnosti starších dospělých v souvislosti s COVID-19. Práce shrnuje a analyzuje dostupné poznatky o zdravotní gramotnosti seniorů v kontextu pandemie COVID-19. Zaměřuje se na pochopení úrovně informovanosti seniorů o COVID-19, jejich přístupu k informacím a zdrojům, a jejich schopnosti aplikovat získané znalosti do preventivního chování a péče o sebe. Z výsledků vyplývá několik faktorů, které ovlivňují úroveň zdravotní gramotnosti a zlepšení gramotnosti ve všech oblastech je nezbytné pro zvládání pandemie a dalších hrozeb.

Abstract:

Older adults are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 due to underlying health conditions and potential gaps in health literacy. This review examines existing research on the health literacy of older adults in relation to COVID-19. The work summarizes and analyzes the available knowledge about the health literacy of seniors in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on understanding the level of awareness of seniors about COVID-19, their access to information and their ability to apply the acquired resources to preventive behavior and self-care. The results indicate several factors that influence the level of health literacy, and improving literacy in all areas is necessary to manage the pandemic and other threats.
