Decision trees and their generalizations

Abstract:

Tématem této diplomové práce jsou rozhodovací stromy a jejich zobecnění. Úvodní část textu představuje koncept rozhodovacích stromů, jejich strukturu, typy a v neposlední řadě jejich silné a slabé stránky. Dále se zaměřujeme na popis konstrukce rozhodovacích stromů od větvení, přes prořezávání, po predikci. Následně uvedeme některé z populárních algoritmů pro tvorbu stromů. O zobecněných přístupech budování stromů pojednává závěrečná část práce.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is decision trees and their generalisations. The introductory part of the text introduces the concept of decision trees, talks about their structure, types and both their strengths and weaknesses. We then focus on describing step by step construction of a decision tree from splitting, through pruning to prediction. Additionally we present some of the popular decision tree algorithms. Generalized approaches to decision tree model building are discussed in the final part of the thesis.
