Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zameriava na film Mafiáni (Goodfellas), skúma hlavné postavy a vzťahy medzi nimi. Jedným zo zásadných tematík, ktoré spracováva, sú zámery gangsterských postáv, ktoré sú často v rozpore so zločineckým kódexom mafie. Táto práca poskytuje predovšetkým nahliadnutie do zámerov samotného režiséra, jeho filmovej vízie a chápania talianskej štvrti v Spojených štátoch amerických, miestnej talianskej mafie a jej predstaviteľov. Ďalej pojednáva o gangsterskom filmovom žánri so zbežným popisom rôznych filmových vyobrazení Talianov v americkom podsvetí. V neposlednom rade práca informuje o produkcii filmu, zhrňuje jeho dej a poskytuje analýzu hlavných tematík zobrazených v spojení s hlavnými postavami.

Abstract:

This thesis examines how the central characters are depicted in the film Goodfellas and analyzes them individually in respect to the most important scenes. Specifically, it is dedicated to depiction of gangsters' agendas, which are not in accordance with the criminal code of the mafia very often. First of all, this study informs about the director himself, his objectives with the picture, and his perception of Little Italy area. Later, it includes a note on the gangster movie genre and briefly describes the movie representation of Italian American criminals. Lastly, it provides an information about the film’s production process, plot summary, and then it extensively analyzes the film itself in respect to selected motifs.
