Application of programming algorithm for adjustment of the contrast agent injection at an exponentially decreasing rate in computed tomography

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na stanovení nové metody CT vyšetření břicha s exponenciálně klesající rychlostí aplikace kontrastní látky. Tato nová metoda umožňuje podat nižší celkový objem kontrastní látky a tím dosáhnout ekonomické úspory. Součástí práce je počítačová aplikace, která byla naprogramována v programovacím jazyce Visual Basic. Výstupem aplikace jsou parametry pro nastavení přetlakového injektoru k podání kontrastní látky exponeciálně klesající rychlostí. Nová metoda aplikace kontrastní látky byla ověřena v kvantitativním výzkumu. Skupina 40 pacientů podstoupila CT vyšetření břicha novou metodou. Stejní pacienti měli již v minulosti také provedeno klasické CT vyšetření břicha. U obou vyšetření bylo ve shodných lokalitách provedeno měření denzit a jejich následné statistické zpracování. Dvojvýběrové parametrické testování naměřených dat dokázalo, že nová metoda má shodné hodnoty denzit, ve třech lokalitách dokonce staticky významně vyšší.

Abstract:

This Diploma Thesis focuses on a development of a new abdominal CT examination method with exponentially decreasing rate of contrast medium. This new method allows to apply a lower volume of contrast agent and therefore achieve economic savings. Important part of this work is an introduction of a computer application that has been programmed in Visual Basic. The output of this software application are parameters that enable to set the injector with lower level of the contrast agent. This new method has been tested on a group of 40 patients who underwent abdominal CT examination. The same group of patients had underwent in the past the routine abdominal CT examination. In both examinations there were measured densities in same locations and all data were consenquently statistically processed. Two sample parametric testing of measuring data demonstrates that the new method has the same density values , moreover in three other locations even significantly higher.
