Complications of Peripheral Venous Cannulas

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zpracovává problematiku periferních žilních kanyl na základě prospektivního sledování, které se uskutečnilo v roce 2011 ve FN Olomouc. Práce mapuje 49310 periferních žilních kanyl, které byly ve sledovaném období zavedeny pacientům ve FN Olomouc. Teoretická část se zabývá anatomií a výběrem přístupových žil pro periferní žilní kanylaci, dále managementem zavádění i ošetřování a komplikacemi periferních žilních kanyl. Empirická část poskytuje data o zavedených periferních žilních kanylách u pacientů na 28 lůžkových pracovištích ve FN Olomouc. Vyhodnocuje data periferních žilních kanyl versus věk, pohlaví, typ periferní žilní kanyly, stupně klasifikace flebitis dle Maddona, lokalizace periferního žilního vstupu a délku zavedení. Výsledkem jsou doporučení pro management a klinickou praxi.

Abstract:

The thesis covers the area of the peripheral venous catheters based on prospective monitoring which was realized in 2011 at Hospital Faculty Olomouc. It surveys 49310 peripheral venous catheters which were placed to the patients at Hospital Faculty Olomouc in the monitoring period. The theoretical sections refers to the anatomy and the selection of the access veins for catheterisation moreover the management of the catheter placing and the care and furthermore the complications. Empirical part provides data about used peripheral venous catheters on 28 inpatient departments at Hospital Faculty Olomouc. It summarizes data of peripheral venous catheters versus age, sex, type of catheter, Maddon Criteria for judging phlebitis, peripheral venous access localisation and the duration from placement. As a result outcome the recommendations for management and clinical practice are given.
