Comparison of Czech and Slovak patients' co-payment

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Spoluúčast pacientů na platbách za zdravotní péči – srovnání ČR a SR“ je porovnání nastavení a fungování ochranných mechanismů spoluúčasti pacientů na platbách za zdravotní péči v těchto zemích. Porovnání je provedeno jednak pomocí ukazatelů, které stanovil autor na základě studie WHO, a dále dle podílových ukazatelů u vybraných skupin obyvatel (senioři, nízkopříjmoví). V práci je vysvětlena ekonomická podstata zdravotní péče včetně pojmů spoluúčast a ekvita. Dále jsou porovnány zdravotní politiky obou zemí a jejich makroekonomické ukazatele. Kromě samotného porovnání ochranných mechanismů a jejich fungování jsou nakonec diskutována hlavní zjištění a navržena opatření.

Abstract:

The goal of the submitted thesis “Comparison of Czech and Slovak patients' co-payment” is to compare the settings and functioning of protective mechanisms of patients' co-payments in healthcare in these countries. The comparison is made using indicators set by the author on the basis of a WHO study, and according to the further share indicators including selected population groups (seniors, low-income). The thesis explains economic essence of health care, including the concepts of co-payments and equity. Furthermore, the health policies of both countries and their macroeconomic indicators are compared. In addition to the comparison of the protection mechanisms and their functioning, the main findings are discussed.
