The analysis of reading skills of pupils with specific learning difficulties

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce představuje téma specifických poruch učení se zaměřením na dvě oblasti. V rámci výzkumného šetření je v první řadě podrobena analýze komunikační schopnost žáků se specifickými poruchami učení se zaměřením na úroveň jednotlivých jazykových rovin. Druhá část výzkumného šetření se zaměřuje na oblast porozumění čtenému textu žáků se specifickými poruchami učení Disertační práce je rozdělena na dvě části – teoretickou a praktickou. V rámci teoretické části byly zpracovány dosavadní poznatky z oboru speciální pedagogiky se zaměřením na problematiku specifických poruch učení, čtenářské gramotnosti se zaměřením na porozumění čtenému textu. První kapitola práce probírá současný stav týkající se inkluzivního vzdělávání v kontextu mezinárodní legislativy, zajímá se o otázky komunikace v inkluzivním prostředí. Jsou zde vymezeny základní speciálně pedagogické termíny včetně specifických poruch učení, gramotnosti a východisek pro metodologické zpracování práce. Druhá kapitola řeší problematiku specifických poruch učení se zaměřením na etiologii, klasifikaci a intervenci ve vzdělávání týkající se žáků se specifickými poruchami učení u nás i v zahraničí. Třetí kapitola zkoumá čtení z pohledu kurikula základní školy. Zaměřuje se na vzdělávací oblast Jazyk a jazyková komunikace jako součásti Rámcového vzdělávacího programu. Věnuje se podrobněji výzkumům týkajících se porozumění čtenému textu v zahraničí i v České republice. Důležitou součástí je také podrobné rozebrání procesu čtení a všech hledisek, které jsou pro správné čtení a porozumění nezbytné. Druhá část disertační práce je věnována dvěma výzkumným projektům. První z nich je zaměřený na analýzu narušené komunikační schopnosti u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení ve smyslu hodnocení úrovně jednotlivých jazykových rovin. Kapitola popisuje cíle výzkumného šetření, jednotlivé kroky realizace a práce s žáky se specifickými poruchami učení včetně metodologie. Závěrem je vyhodnocení hypotéz a popis, jakých úrovní v jazykových rovinách dosahují žáci se specifickými poruchami učení. Výzkumné šetření má charakter smíšeného výzkumu s dominujícími prvky kvantitativního výzkumu. Druhý výzkumný projekt je zaměřen na čtení respektive na oblast porozumění čtenému textu u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení. Hlavním cílem výzkumného šetření je ověření Testu porozumění čtenému textu a jeho použití u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení. Výzkumné šetření má charakter kvantitativního výzkumu. V rámci ověřování testového nástroje bylo využito aplikace testu na skupinu žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a na základě jejich výsledků byly analyzovány jednotlivé vlastnosti testu. V prvé řadě byly analyzovány postupy porozumění, které test využívá. Podrobně byla rozpracována obtížnost testových otázek, citlivost a také byla analyzována nenormovaná data. Součástí analýzy bylo také ověřování reliability a validity testového nástroje. Ke konci výzkumného šetření byly navrhnuty jednotlivé kategorie úrovní, na které je možné prostřednictvím testu dosáhnout. Výsledkem celého výzkumného šetření bylo zhodnocení testu jako přijatelného pro použití měření úrovně porozumění čtenému textu u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení. Závěr výzkumného šetření navrhuje způsoby použití Testu porozumění čtenému textu u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a možnosti rozvoje porozumění čtenému textu.

Abstract:

Present thesis deals with the topic of specific learning difficulties focused on two areas. Firstly is research targeted on analysis of communication of pupils with specific learning difficulties. Second research deals with reading comprehension in pupils with specific learning difficulties. Thesis is divided on two parts – theoretical and empirical. Theoretical part is summarizing the existing knowledge in the field of special needs education with emphasis on specific learning difficulties and reading literacy and reading comprehension. First chapter deals with topic of contemporary inclusive education in the context of international law. Also is chapter presenting basic terminology from special needs education – specific learning difficulties and ways of making research in pedagogy. Second chapter is focused on the topic of specific learning difficulties with emphasis on classification, manifestation in life and education. It also presents the theories of the origins of specific learning difficulties. Also are presented the methods of education and supporting the children with specific learning difficulties in Czech Republic and other countries. Third chapter examines the reading in a context of curriculum of the basic school. It is focused on the education area Language and language communication as a part of the Framework educational program. More intensively are described researches focused on reading comprehension in Czech and foreign countries. Important part of the chapter is detailed analysis of reading processes crucial to reading comprehension. Second part of thesis is empirical and it is presenting two researches. First research is a mixed type of research, with dominating quantitative part with elements of the qualitative methods. The main aim was to analyse the disruption in the language level of pupils with specific learning difficulties. In the concluding chapter, the results of research are presented together with the analysis of problems in the language levels of pupils with specific learning difficulties. Second research is focused on reading comprehension in pupils with specific learning difficulties. The main aim was to analyse reading comprehension test and its use in pupils with specific learning difficulties. The research methodology is oriented on quantitative research. Reading comprehension test was applied to children with specific learning difficulties. On this basis was analysed test properties in detail: firstly the ways of comprehension of the text, which were used in the test, the difficulty of test tasks, sensitivity of the tasks, and analysis of non-standardized data. One of the elements of analysis was also verification of validity and reliability. On the end of research was suggested the scale with levels of reading comprehension. The result of whole research was to verify if this test is suitable to use in pupils with specific learning difficulties. In conclusions are discussed ways of use of the Reading comprehension test and also ways how to develop and affect the reading comprehension.
