Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá přínosem Self-Service Business Intelligence pro společnosti. Hlavním cílem práce je vytvoření dočasného řešení (prototypu) na úrovni Proof of Concept, které demonstruje možnost přenosu dat z databází zákazníky používaných aplikací do interního Self-Service Business Intelligence nástroje. Společnost, pro kterou je řešení vytvořeno, působí na trhu logistiky po celém světě. Tato společnost nabízí několik aplikací/integrací, které zákazníci využívají pro objednání přepravy a svozu balíků. Tyto aplikace mají své databáze a týmy IT podpory, které se starají o administraci a řeší příchozí tickety. Aplikace existují odděleně a fungují nezávisle na sobě. Business zaměstnanci a management cítili potřebu rozšířit interní Self-Service Business Intelligence nástroj o registrační data o zákaznících, která dříve museli získávat z databází za pomoci týmů IT podpory, což nebylo časově efektivní, přidělávalo to velké množství práce a ticketů. Projekt zdokumentovaný v této práci problém s chybějícími daty vyřešil pro 5 aplikací/integrací. Hlavní částí řešení byla tvorba datových pump v Pythonu, které data transformují a za pomocí SQL nahrávají do jedné společné databáze, odkud jsou přenášena do SSBI nástroje. Práce začíná uvedením do kontextu projektu (přínos BI a SSBI), seznámením se společností a nastíněním řešeného problému, poté následuje návrh a tvorba řešení. Poslední kapitola se věnuje validaci celého řešení.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the benefits of Self-Service Business Intelligence for companies. The main goal of the thesis is to create a temporary solution (prototype) at the Proof of Concept level, which demonstrates the possibility of transferring data from databases of customer-used applications to an internal Self-Service Business Intelligence tool. The company for which the solution is created operates in the logistics market worldwide. This company offers several applications/integrations that customers use to order shipping and parcel collection. These applications have their own databases and IT support teams that take care of the administration and handle incoming tickets. The applications exist separately and operate independently of each other. Business staff and management felt the need to augment the internal Self-Service Business Intelligence tool with customer registration data, which previously had to be extracted from databases with the help of IT support teams, which was not time efficient and was adding a lot of work and tickets. The project documented in this thesis solved the missing data problem for 5 applications/integrations. The main part of the solution was the creation of ETLs in Python that transform and load the data using SQL into one common database, from where it is transferred to the SSBI tool. The work starts with an introduction to the topic of the project (the benefits of BI and SSBI), an introduction to the company and an outline of the problem to be solved, followed by the design and creation of the solution. The last chapter is devoted to the validation of the solution.
