The world sugar market and the position of Thailand in this market

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat světový obchod s cukrem a postavení Thajska na tomto trhu. První kapitola popisuje historii cukru jako komodity, jeho produkci, spotřebu a faktory, které ovlivňují produkci i cenu cukru na světovém trhu s cukrem. Důležitou součástí první kapitoly je také výroba bioetanolu, která ovlivňuje množství vyrobeného cukru. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na vývoj cukrovarnictví v Thajsku, zejména v posledních šedesáti letech, jeho slabé a silné stránky, a také popisuje regulaci tohoto trhu. Poslední část se zaměřuje na potenciál thajského cukrovarnictví.

Abstract:

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to analyze the world sugar market and the role of Thailand on this market. The first chapter describes the history of sugar, its production, consumption and some factors which influence the production and also the price of sugar on the world sugar market. The important part of the first chapter is the production of bioethanol which influence the production of sugar. The second chapter describes the development of the Thai sugar market, particularly in the last sixty years, its weaknesses and strengths and it also describes the regulation of this market. The last chapter is focused on the potential of the Thai sugar market.
