The Political and Economic Role of the EU in Conflict Resolution (Crisis Management and Mediation): The Case of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, 1996-2003

Anotace:

The thesis will examine the role of the European Union in the peace process between Israel and the Palestinian authority from 1996-2003. EU policies in this regard (set in Joint Actions) will be put under scrutiny, alongside actions taken by the EU Special Envoy to the Middle East peace process in order to implement the goals set forth by the EU. The thesis will review actions taken by the EU Special Envoy and examine whether they fulfilled the official goals stated in EU policies. Estimation of such suitability will lead to a conclusion concerning the contribution of the EU to the settlement of the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
