Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Thajsko jako regionální vůdce v oblasti kontinentální jihovýchodní Asie“ je analýza pozice Thajska jako lídra v regionu kontinentální Jihovýchodní Asie, do kterého se řadí státy Kambodža, Laos, Myanmar, Thajsko a Vietnam. V první části práce je charakterizován region jako celek, následně je popsán politický a ekonomický vývoj Thajska. V následujícím oddíle je analyzován mocenský potenciál Thajska a jsou uvedeny překážky k dosažení pozice regionálního lídra. V závěru práce jsou zodpovězeny otázky formulované autorkou.

Abstract:

The objective of this diploma thesis „Thailand as a regional leader in mainland SouthEast Asia“ is to analyse the capacity of Thailand to be a regional leader in the SouthEast Asia region comprising of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand itself. The goal of the two first chapters is to describe the features of the SouthEast Asia region and the political and economical development of Thailand. The geopolitical power potential of Thailand is analysed in the following section, which also introduces the reasons why the country is not able/may not be able/is struggling? to sustain its leadership status. The questions raised by the author throughout the thesis are addressed in the conclusion
