Personal assistance for children with autism

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá službou osobní asistence u dětí s autismem. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části se jednotlivé kapitoly a podkapitoly věnují diagnóze autismus, jeho příčinám, projevům a důležitým oblastem rozvoje u takto postižených dětí. Dále je zde nastíněna složitá situace, kdy se do rodiny narodí dítě s postižením, jak je pro dítě s autismem důležitá struktura a motivace a též nácvik volnočasových aktivit. Je zde popsána služba osobní asistence, legislativa, která se zabývá sociálními službami, kdo je to osobní asistent a též kdo může být poskytovatelem osobní asistence. Praktická část se zabývá osobní asistencí z pohledu rodičů a osobních asistentů. Výzkum je kvantitativní, jsou zde zpracovány dva dotazníky, a to jak pro rodiče, tak pro osobní asistenty. Výsledky jsou zaznamenány písemně i graficky.

Abstract:

The main subject of this thesis is a personal assistance service for children with autism. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The chapters and subchapters in the theoretical part describe the diagnosis of autism, its causes, symptoms and important areas of development for handicapped children. There is also described a difficult situation when a mentally challenged child is born into a family, furthermore the importance of structure and motivation as well as training of leisure activities for a child with autism. The theoretical part also describes the personal assistance service, legislation of the social services and also who can be provider of personal assistance service. The practical part is focused on personal assistance from the point of view of parents and personal assistants. The research was done using quantitative method. There are two questionnaires for both parents and personal assistants. The results are recorded in writing and also in graphic charts.
