Renovatio imperii - the beginning of the restoration of byzantine hegemony over the lost provinces of the Western Roman Empire - Vandalic war

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of the Vandalic War, which took place in 533-534 during the reign of the emperor Justinian I. This war resulted in the destruction of the Vandal kingdom in the North Africa and the establishing of a byzantine province in this region. This thesis examines in detail the causes and the development of this conflict in order to demonstrate how the Byzantine Empire accomplished this goals. The opening chapters examine in brief the Byzantine Empire of the sixth century and the Vandal nation and its history.

Abstract:

Témou tejto bakalárskej práce je rozbor Vojny s Vandalmi, ktorá sa odohrala v rokoch 533-534 za vlády cisára Justiniána I. Táto vojna mala za následok zničenie Vandalského kráľovstva v severnej Afrike a zriadenie byzantskej provincie v tejto oblasti. Táto práca detailne skúma príčiny i vývoj tohto vojenského konfliktu, aby poukázala na to, ako tieto ciele Byzantská ríša dosiahla. Úvodné kapitoly stručne opisujú Byzantskú ríšu šiesteho storočia aj vandalský národ a jeho osudy.
