Plzeňské pivovarnictví a nástup značky Pilsner Urquell v meziválečném období 1918 - 1939

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je popis vývoje největších pivovarů na Plzeňsku v meziválečném období včetně jejich vzájemných vztahů s důrazem na dopady konkurenčních bojů mezi nimi na největší pivovar – Měšťanský pivovar v Plzni. Teoretická část obsahuje popis dějin pivovarnictví ve světovém i národním měřítku a charakteristiku tržních struktur a pojmů s nimi souvisejících. V praktické části jsou zanalyzovány a porovnány jednotlivé pivovary podle celkových objemů jejich výstavů a exportu. Praktická část obsahuje také výpočet tržní koncentrace a poukazuje na význam konkurenčních bojů ve sledovaném období v pivovarnickém průmyslu, zkoumaném na daném území a současně na zneužití dominantních postavení s podporou výpočtu tržní koncentrace pivovarů. Vypočtená vysoká koncentrace ukazuje konstantní dominantní postavení Měšťanského pivovaru na plzeňském trhu. Na základě provedených analýz se hypotéza, že se konkurence významně promítla do ekonomického nástupu značky Pilsner Urquell v národní i nadnárodní úrovni, potvrdila, a to přesto, že k celkové fúzi s Prvním akciovým pivovarem formálně došlo, až když byly oba podniky v národním vlastnictví. Gambrinus byl totiž ovládán Měšťanským pivovarem už od 30. let 20. století, a i předtím fungovala mezi dvěma největšími pivovary nepsaná částečná spolupráce po celou dobu jejich existence. Ostatní konkurenční pivovary Měšťanský pivovar nechal zaniknout svojí strategií.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe the development of the largest breweries in the Pilsen region in the interwar period, including their mutual relations with emphasis on the impact of competitive struggles between them on the largest brewery – Měšťanský pivovar in Pilsen. The theoretical part contains a description of the history of brewing on a global and national scale and the characteristics of market structures and concepts related to them. In the practical part, individual breweries are analyzed and compared according to the total volumes of their exhibitions and exports. The practical part also contains the calculation of market concentration and points to the importance of competitive struggles in the period under review in the brewing industry, examined in the area and at the same time the abuse of dominant positions with the support of calculating market concentration of breweries. The calculated high concentration shows the constant dominant position of the Měšťanský pivovar on the Pilsen market. Based on the analysis performed, the hypothesis that competition had a significant impact on the economic rise of the Pilsner Urquell brand at the national and transnational level was confirmed, despite the fact that the overall merger with První akciový pivovar did not formally take place until both companies were nationally owned. Gambrinus has been controlled by the Měšťanský pivovar since the 1930s, and even before that there was an unwritten partial cooperation between the two largest breweries throughout their existence. Other competing breweries let Měšťanský pivovar disappear with its strategy.
