Kitsch in music from the point of view of the Czech musicology between 1918 and 1968

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Kýč v hudbě z pohledu české hudební vědy v období 1918-1968 předkládá pohled na problematiku klesajících hodnot hudby minulého století. Práce se zaměřuje zejména na odbornou reflexi kýče v hudbě a předkládá vybrané statě a články z odborných hudebních časopisů a publikací, jež se této problematice přímo věnují či jiným způsobem dotýkají. Pomocí těchto textů je sestaven přibližný průřez daným obdobím, jež má za cíl zejména přiblížit situaci na poli hudební vědy od počátku vzniku samostatného Československého státu až po rok 1968, který přinesl výrazné změny, jež nadále zásadním způsobem ovlivnily vývoj hudební vědy i hudby samotné. Diplomová práce se pokouší objasnit podmínky, za kterých se hudební věda vyvíjela a přiblížit tak současnou situaci v oblasti hudebního světa, jež nastala zejména po změnách v kultuře, započatých v 19. století a postupně gradujících ve vybraném období této práce.

Abstract:

The thesis named Kitsch in music from the point of view of the Czech musicology between 1918 and 1968 presents a view on the issues of decreasing values of music in the past century. The thesis focuses on vocational reflection of kitsch in music and presents selected studies and articles from scholarly music journals and publications, which are directly related to this issue or that affect it in some other way. Using these texts we compile approximate cross section of selected period, which aims to describe the situation in the musicology between the formation of an independent state and 1968. This year brings fundamental changes that essentially affected development of musicology and the music itself. The thesis strives for clarification of the conditions under which musicology has been developed and describes current situation in the area of music, which occurred with the culture changes that have been started in 19th century and have been gradually escalated in the selected period of this thesis.
