Influence of currency intervention on import and export in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na detailnější rozebrání intervencí České národní banky, především na ovlivnění exportu a importu a na zhodnocení efektivnosti intervencí v české ekonomice. Také se zabývá tím, jak se export a import a tedy i čistý export vyvíjel před, při i po intervencích a blíže tedy přibližuje vývoj naší ekonomiky v tomto období. Vývoj měnového kurzu české koruny vůči euru je blíže popsán a graficky předveden. Praktická část je využita k bližšímu zpracování Marshall-Lernerovy podmínky s využitím J křivky. V neposlední řadě bude použita i regresní analýza pro potvrzení informací, které byly zjištěné pomocí předchozích analýz, tedy určením závislosti proměnných. Na závěr bude zjištěna odpověď, zda se export či import díky intervencím změnil, co to ovlivnilo a jak velké následky byly způsobeny ekonomice.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the detailed analysis of interventions of the Czech National Bank, especially on the influence of export and import and on the evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions in the Czech economy. It also explains how exports and imports, and thus net exports, developed before, during and after interventions and therefore explains in detail the development of Czech economy during this period. The development of the Czech crown exchange rate towards the euro is described in more detail and graphically presented. The practical part is used for closer processing of the Marshall-Lerner condition using the J curve. Last but not least, regression analysis will be used to confirm the information that has been detected by previous analysis by determining the dependence of variables. In conclusion, there will be found an answer if export or import have changed due to interventions, what affected them and what consequences were caused to the economy.
