Annual Markets (Fairs) in the Towns of the Chrudim Region from the Mid-15th to the Late 17th Century

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce si klade za cíl zmapovat síť měst a městeček v Chrudimském kraji především v letech 1450 1700. Zaměřit se na jejich stručnou historii a se věnovat se tomu, zda mělo příslušné město právo pořádat výroční trhy (jarmarky) a v jakém počtu a rozsahu. Jarmark trval obvykle týden a sjížděli na něj kupci s širokého okolí. Bylo tedy výhodné, pokud na sebe jarmarky sousedních měst navazovaly tak, aby kupci mohli v kraji zůstat déle a s nimi i zboží, které bylo k dostání pouze výjimečně. Autor práce se snaží zjistit, jestli tyto jarmarky na sebe časově i teritoriálně navazovaly či nikoliv.

Abstract:

This bachelor paper aims to map the network of cities and towns in the region of Chrudim especially in the years 1450 -1700. It focuses on a brief history of the cities and mainly it studies whether the cities used to have the right to hold annual markets (fairs) and in what numbers and scope. Fairs usually lasted for a week, and buyers were coming from wide surroundings. It was therefore advantageous if every single fair was followed by another one, so that buyers could stay longer in the region together with the goods that were available only in exceptional circumstances. The author tries to find out if these fairs were followed by one another at each time and territorially.
