The Conflict between Asceticism and Sensuality in the Works of Thomas Mann "Fiorenza" and "Little Mr. Friedemann"

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is the "Conflict between Asceticism and Sensuality in the Works of Thomas Mann Fiorenza and Little Mr Friedemann. The both works will be compared. This thesis submits firstly a short biography of Thomas Mann. Next it focuses on the analysis major figures in both works and describes their conflict between buoyancy and lovelust on the one side and asceticism on the other side. The point of this thesis is to describe both works in consideration of mentioned problematic.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem "Konflikt mezi askezí a smyslností v dílech Thomase Manna: Fiorenza a Malý pan Friedemann." Obě díla budou porovnána. Tato práce nejdříve předkládá krátký životopis Thomase Manna. Poté se soustřeďuje na analýzu hlavních postav v obou dílech a popisuje jejich konflikty mezi chutí do života a touhou po lásce na jedné straně a askezí na straně druhé. Cílem této práce je vystihnout obě díla s ohledem na danou problematiku.
