Faith as coping Strategy in critically oncologically ill Patients

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá významem víry jako copingové strategie u vážně nemocných onkologických pacientů. Autorka v této práci vychází z úvah a údajů mnoha renomovaných autorů, jež mají zkušenosti v oblasti onkologicky nemocných, jejich vnímání, prožívání, potřeb a zejména víry, nejen náboženské, ale i ve vlastní zdroje a síly. Cílem práce je provést pojmovou a teoretickou analýzu víry jako copingové strategie a na jejím podkladě realizovat výzkum, ve kterém bude zjišťováno, zda může víra fungovat jako copingová strategie u onkologicky nemocných pacientů. Tato práce je zacílena na dospělého pacienta s nádorovou nemocí. Práce zároveň upozorňuje na současně přetrvávající fakt nezohlednění a nedostatečné péče o sebeúzdravné schopnosti a bio-psycho-socio-spirito potřeby vážně nemocných onkologických pacientů, zejména v oblasti jejich víry, ať již náboženské nebo ve vlastní zdroje a síly. Předkládá k zamyšlení nezbytnost naplňování těchto potřeb a zdůrazňuje jejich význam na zlepšení zdravotního stavu pacienta, případně zkvalitnění času, který mu ještě zbývá.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is exploring the significant meaning of faith as a coping strategy for seriously or terminally ill oncological patients. The author´s research is based on thoughts and datas of many renowned authors with experiences in the field of oncological patiens, their perceptions, experiences, their needs and especially their faith - not only in terms of religion, but also the faith in their own resources and strenght. The aim of the work is to perform a conceptual and theoretical analysis of faith as a coping strategy and on its basis to carry out research in which it will be detected whether faith can function as a coping strategy in cancer patients. This thesis is focused on the adult patient with cancer. The thesis also points out the persistent disregard and insufficiency in the care of self-healing abilities and psycho-socio-spiritual needs of terminally oncologicaly ill patients. Mostly in the terms of their faith - religious or the faith in their own resources and strenght. The thesis is bringing out the ideas about necessity of fulfilling those needs, it is emphasizing the impact of those needs fulfilled on the improving health or the remaining time of life of the patient.
