Silver mining in the Jáchymov region in the 16th and 17th Centuries

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce analyzuje těžbu stříbra v Jáchymově v 16. a 17. století. V práci je shrnut význam hornictví pro vybranou oblast Krušných hor, umocněn především vznikem horního města Jáchymova a mincovnictvím. Podrobně je zde popsán způsob těžby a použitá technika jak při samotné těžbě, tak při následném zpracování rudy. V této souvislosti je zmíněna i významnost osoby Georgia Agricoly, který nám ve svém díle zanechal přesný popis tehdejší hornické činnosti prováděné přímo v Jáchymově.

Abstract:

Bachelor´s thesis analysis silver mining in Jáchymov in the 16th and 17th centuries. The work presents a summary of the importance of mining in a specific region of the Ore Mountains and how this led to the emergence of the mining town of Jáchymov and the mintage. The work contains a detailed description of the techniques used during the actual mining and during the subsequent processing of ore. n this context, the work touches upon the significance of Georgius Agricola, who in his work left behind a precise description of the period?s mining activities in Jáchymov.
