The Form of Film Review in Lidové noviny between 1929 and 1930

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá podobou žánru filmové recenze v Lidových novinách v letech 1929 a 1930. V teoretické části je nastíněn referenční rámec, ve kterém je stručně nastíněn vývoj kinematografie a filmové teorie a kritik. Dále jsou v teoretické části vymezena kritéria žánru recenze, kde se soustřeďuji na vymezení funkcí recenze. V následující kapitole shrnuji informace o filmové kritice u nás, s důrazem na filmovou žurnalistiku. Součástí této kapitoly je také popis podoby filmových rubrik v dobovém tisku a hlavně v Lidových novinách. V analytické části nejprve co nejzevrubněji popisuji zkoumaný vzorek recenzí sesbíraných v Lidových novinách ve zvoleném období a následně je rozebírám za pomoci obsahové analýzy prizmatem autorství. Pro tento účel jsem si zkoumaný vzorek recenzí rozdělila do 4 skupin: první tvoří recenze A. J. Urbana, druhou recenze Karla Smrže, další pak recenze J. M. Janatky a poslední recenze autorů, kteří se v daném období na podobě žánru tolik nepodíleli, protože bylo otištěno jen malé množství jejich textů: A. Černík, L. Linhart a K. Z. Klíma. Na základě komparace pak zjišťuji charakteristické prvky recenzí jednotlivých autorů, jaké funkce jejich recenze naplňovaly, jaký úhel pohledu autoři volili a zda měl jejich texty pevnou strukturu. V závěru jsem dospěla ke společným rysům všech recenzí jako žánru.

Abstract:

The theses sis aimed at form of film review published in Lidové noviny in 1929 and 1930. In theoretical part is very briefly described the discourse of film history and film criticism and theory. Next, I define features of review focusing on the functions of this genre. I also summarize the information about film criticism and film journalism in Czech country describing the form of film journalism in Lidové noviny in details. In the part dealing with the analysis, first, I define the sample of collected reviews published in Lidové noviny during the chosen period. I analyze them from the author’s point of view, so I divided the review into the 4 groups: one includes the review of A. J. Urban, the second of Karel Smrž, in next group there are reviews of J. M. Janatka and the last includes the reviews of A. Černík, L. Linhart a K. Z. Klíma (these authors published only a few text in chosen period, so they didn’t have so big influence on the form of the genre). By comparative analysis I have found characteristic features in reviews of one author, I have especially interpreted the functions included in the text and a structure of the text. In conclusion I characterize general features of review genre.
