The Role of Emotions in the Decision-Making Process of Adults and Adolescents

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je složena ze dvou částí, a to teoretické a praktické. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak moc emoce ovlivňují proces rozhodování adolescentů a dospělých. Teoretická část shrnuje základní pojmy související s emocemi, rozhodovacími procesy, kognitivním vývojem a psychologickými, sociálními a kulturními faktory ovlivňujícími rozhodování. Tyto pojmy jsou podloženy odbornou literaturou. Empirická část byla realizována prostřednictvím kvalitativního dotazníkového šetření s otevřenými otázkami. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 66 respondentů, kteří byli rozděleni do dvou skupin, a to na adolescenty a dospělé. Získaná data byla analyzována pomocí kvalitativní obsahové analýzy. Proces analýzy spočíval v otevřeném kódování, kdy byly z odpovědí vybrány významné jednotky, které byly integrovány do nadřazených kategorií.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. The aim of the thesis was to determine how much emotions influence the decision-making process of adol-escents and adults. The theoretical part summarizes the basic concepts related to emotions, decision-making processes, cognitive development, and psychological, social, and cultural factors influencing decision-making. These concepts are supported by professional literatu-re. The empirical part was conducted through a qualitative questionnaire survey with open-ended questions. The research sample consisted of 66 respondents who were divided into two groups: adolescents and adults. The obtained data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The analysis process consisted of open coding, during which significant units were identified from the responses and subsequently grouped into higher-level catego-ries.
