Measuring oxidation of cosmetic oils

Abstract:

Rostlinné oleje, které jsou významné v kosmetice, můžou být díky svému jedinečnému složení velmi náchylné k degradaci. Diplomová práce se zabývá oxidací a stárnutím olejů, vznikem jejich oxidačních produktů a metodami jejich sledování. V teoretické části jsou jednotlivě popsány rostlinné oleje, se kterými se pracovalo v experimentální části. Vybrané oleje byly esterifikovány a pomocí plynové chromatografie byl stanoven jejich obsah mastných kyselin. Výsledky byly porovnány se složením olejů stejného typu. Bylo prověřeno i jejich peroxidové číslo jako ukazatel primární oxidace. Ke sledování oxidační stability byla použita moderní metoda pomocí přístroje Rancimat 892, která využívá zrychlených podmínek stárnutí oleje. Jako vzorky byly použity oleje - arganový, avokádový, dýňový, hroznový, kokosový, konopný, lněný, mandlový, olivový, ostropestřecový a sezamový. Vyhodnoceny byly při teplotách 80, 100, 120 a 130 °C a vzájemně porovnány i na základě použití antioxidantu.

Abstract:

Vegetable oils that are important in cosmetics can be highly susceptible to degradation due to their unique composition. The thesis deals with the oxidation and aging of oils, the formation of their oxidation products and methods of their monitoring. In the theoretical part, the vegetable oils that have been worked on in the experimental section are described individually. The selected oils were esterified and their fatty acid content determined by gas chromatography. The results were compared to that of the same type of oils. Their peroxide volue has also been determined as an indicator of primary oxidation. To monitor the oxidation stability, a modern method was used using the Rancimat 892, which uses accelerated oil aging conditions. As samples were used - argan, avocado, pumpkin, grape, coconut, hemp, linseed, almond, olive, milk thistle and sesame oils. They were evaluated at temperatures of 80,100, 120 and 130 ° C and compared to each other using an antioxidant.
