Attitudes of managers towards care for a child / children in context of balancing work and family life in selected organizations of the chemical industry in the South Moravian Region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá postoji zástupců managementů k péči o dítě ve vybraných organizacích chemického průmyslu v oblasti Jihomoravského kraje. Péče o dítě je důležitým nástrojem harmonizace práce a rodiny. Cílem práce je odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: Jaké jsou postoje managementů organizací v chemickém průmyslu JMK k péči o dítě/děti?. Celá práce je rozdělena do tří oddílů – teoretického, metodologického a empirického. Úvodní teoretický oddíl představuje souhrn teoretických konceptů, které se týkají především péče o dítě jako hlavního nástroje harmonizace práce a rodiny. Na problematiku je nazíráno ze tří úhlů – z pohledu státu, managementu a rodiče. Tato teoretická východiska následně vytvořila základ pro empirický výzkum. V metodologické části jsou popsány cíle výzkumu, metoda a strategie výzkumu, jednotka zkoumání, strategie výběru a kritéria zkoumaného vzorku, technika zjišťování a sběr dat, etická stránka a omezení výzkumu. Poslední, empirická, část se snaží o interpretaci výsledků kvalitativního výzkumu založeného na polo-strukturovaném rozhovoru s devíti respondenty. V tomto oddílu je cílem popsat postoje respondentů, tedy zástupců managementů, k rolím státu, organizace a rodičů v péči o dítě v rámci harmonizace práce a rodiny. Všechny zjištěné poznatky jsou shrnuty v závěrečné diskuzi.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on attitudes of managers towards care for a child in selected organizations of the chemical industry in the South Moravian Region. The care for the child is important instrument of balancing work and family life. The aim of the thesis is to answer the main research question: „What are the attitudes of organization´s management in chemical industry towards the care for the child/children? “ The whole thesis is divided into three parts – theoretical, methodological and empirical. The opening theoretical part shows a summary of theoretical concepts that mainly relate to care for the child as the main instrument of balancing work and family life. The tissue is viewed from three angles – the perspective of the state, management and parents. These theoretical concepts created the theoretical basis for the empirical research. The methodological part describes the aims of the research, the method and strategy of the research, the unit of research, the strategy of selection and criteria of the sample, detection technique and data collection, ethics aspects and the limitation of the research. The last empirical part tries to interpret the results of the qualitative research which was conducted by using semi-structured interview with nine respondents. The goal of this section is to describe the attitudes of respondents towards the roles of the state, the organization and the parents in care for the child in context of balancing work and family life. All the research findings are summarized in the final discussion.
