This thesis deals with the theatre adaptation by Emil František Burian called Kupec benátský, which coming-out from the pattern of English dramatist William Shakespeare. The gist of this thesis is confrontation both of texts, choosing kind of adjustment, analysis of Burian´s text and insertion it to contemporary realia.
