Strain on nurses providing renal replacement therapy

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit psychickou zátěž sester, které provádějí eliminační metody, vliv některých zvolených faktorů na psychickou zátěž (věk, vzdělání, životní styl) a dále porovnat zátěž sester pracujících na hemodialyzačním oddělení a sester, které provádějí akutní a kontinuální eliminační metody. Metodika: Soubor respondentů tvořilo 101 všeobecných sester, které provádějí eliminační metody. Součástí souboru byly všeobecné sestry z: Fakultní nemocnice Ostrava, oddělení hemodialyzačně-transplantační (hemodialyzační stanice, transplantační jednotka intenzivní péče), Městské nemocnice Ostrava ? dialyzační středisko, Nemocnice s poliklinikou Havířov ? dialyzační centrum, Nemocnice ve Frýdku-Místku ? hemodialýza, Nemocnice Nový Jičín ? hemodialyzační stanice, Nemocnice s poliklinikou Karviná - hemodialyzační středisko, Slezská nemocnice v Opavě ? hemodialýza. Empirické šetření probíhalo od února do dubna v roce 2012. K měření psychické zátěže byl zvolen Meisterův dotazník doplněný o demografické údaje (pohlaví, věk, délka praxe a vzdělání) a otázky zaměřené na životní styl respondentů. Výsledky: Z poznatků výzkumného šetření vyplývá, že psychická zátěž sester z hemodialyzačních oddělení a u sester, které provádějí akutní a kontinuální eliminační metody je klasifikována jako psychická zátěž 1. stupně, při které není pravděpodobné ovlivnění zdraví, subjektivního stavu a výkonnosti. Nebyla prokázána vzájemná souvislost mezi psychickou zátěží, věkem, vzděláním a životním stylem respondentů. Závěr: Přes pozitivní výsledek výzkumného šetření u sester provádějících eliminační metody, by měli zaměstnavatelé preventivně vytvářet takové podmínky, aby pocity zátěže a stresu byly u pracovníků co nejmenší. Stejně tak i sestry by se měly aktivně podílet na péči o vlastní psychické a fyzické zdraví.

Abstract:

Aim: The purpose of this thesis is to determine psychological stress on nurses providing renal replacement therapy, the effects of some selected factors on psychological stress (age, level of education, life style) further more, to compare the stress on nurses working in Hemodialysis daily units and nurses performing acute and continuous renal replacement therapies. Methods: The group of participants consisted of 101 general nurses, who are performing renal replacement therapy. Some of the partakers were general nurses from University hospital of Ostrava, working in Hemodialysis - transplant unit (,hemodialysis unit, Kidney transplant ICU), Ostrava city hospital - hemodialysis unit, Havirov hospital - hemodialysis unit, Frydek Mistek hospital - hemodialysis unit, Novy Jicin hospital - hemodialysis unit, Silesian hospital Opava - . hemodialysis unit. The research lasted from February to April 2012. Meisters questionnaire was chosen for the research of the psychological stress suplemented by demographic data (gender, age, work experience and level of education) and questions focused on their lifestyle. Results: The outcome of this investigation is that the psychological stress on nurses from hemodialysis unit and nurses providing acute and continuous renal replacement therapy is classified as a 1st degree psychological stress, where there is no presumable effect on the health, subjective condition or work performance. There is not conclusive result between the psychological stress and the age, gender, level of education or lifestyle of the participants. Conclusion: Despite the positive findings of the research on nurses performing renal replacement therapy, there should be preventive health conditions provided by the employer, to minimize the perception of overload and stress of the employees. In addition the nurses should be more proactive in regards to their own mental and physical health.
