Analysis of the English Thoroughbred influence on the show jumping performance of horses at the world level

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zhodnocení vlivu plnokrevné krve na sportovní výsledky skokových koní na světové úrovni. Základ tvořila databáze ze skokových žebříčků let 2010, 2014 a 2018 Mezinárodní jezdeckou federací. Při statistickém zhodnocení celé databáze byl zjištěn vysoce průkazný vliv krve anglického plnokrevníka na výkonnost koní. Nejlepších výsledků dosahovali koně se 30,1-60% podílem plnokrevné krve a nejhorších výsledků koně s 90,1-100% podílem. Vysoce průkazný vliv byl zjištěn i u dalších sledovaných faktorů (věk, pohlaví, plemeno a rok startu). Nejúspěšnější ve skokovém sportu jsou koně ve věku 13-16 let (119,77 bodů), nejlepších výsledků dosahují hřebci (117,84 bodů), nejvýkonnější jsou koně AES (162,81 bodů) a nejoptimálnější je 40,1-50% podíl krve anglického plnokrevníka v původech skokových koní (111,87 bodů). Shodnými metodami byla provedena analýza i u skupiny TOP Horses, která zahrnuje 10 % nejlepších jedinců z každého roku. V této skupině byl zjištěn statisticky prokazatelný vliv pouze roku startu. Výsledky analýzy TOP Horses značí, že nejúspěšnější jsou koně ve věku 13-16 let (563,11 bodů), nejlepších výsledků dosahují hřebci (558,83 bodů), nejvýkonnější jsou koně AES (718,53 bodů) a nejúspěšnější byli koně s 10,1-20% podílem krve anglického plnokrevníka.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to assess how the English thoroughbred influences competition results of show jumping horses at the world level. The thesis was based on the databases of jumping rankings for years 2010, 2014 and 2018 published by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports. The analysis of the statistics in the entire database established a highly conclusive influence of the thoroughbred on the show jumping performance. The best results were achieved by horses with the 30.1-60% portion of the thoroughbred, while the worst results by horses with the 90.1-100% portion. A highly conclusive influence was also discovered for other monitored factors (age, sex, breed and year of the competition). The most successful are horses between 13-16 years of age (119.77 points), the best results are achieved by stallions (117.84 points), the best performance is delivered by AES horses (162.81 points), and the most optimal portion of the blood of an English thoroughbred horse when it comes to the origin of jumping horses equals 40.1-50% (111.87 points). Similar methods were used to perform an analysis of the TOP Horses group which includes 10 % of the best horses for each year. This group only manifested a single statistically conclusive influence year of the competition. The results of the analysis for the TOP Horses suggests that horses aged 13-16 years are the most successful (563.11 points), the best results are achieved by stallions (558.83 points), the best performance is delivered by the AES horses (718.53 points), and the most successful were horses with the 10.1-20% portion of the thoroughbred.
