The teritorial behaviour of roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) in the region of Dobrčice

Abstract:

Teritoriální chování je typ chování, kterým se vyznačují jedinci při hájení určitého území. Srnec obecný (Capreolus capreolus) je sezónně teritoriální, a proto si vytváří a hájí teritoria pouze určitá období v roce. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo určení a porovnání velikosti teritorií v rozdílných habitatech (les, pole). Mezi další cíle patřila identifikace a zhodnocení celkového počtu aktivit v rozdílných habitatech, také zhodnocení celkového počtu aktivit v rozdílném období v roce. Dále byl pozorován výskyt agresivity vzhledem k období v roce. Takovýto výzkum nebyl dosud vědecky publikován. Pozorování probíhalo v okolí obce Dobrčice v Ústeckém kraji, na čtyřech stanovištích (dvě polní a dvě lesní). Pro získávání dat byla použita metoda přímého pozorování. Na základě získaných dat bylo zjištěno, že teritoria v lesních habitatech jsou menší než v polních, dále že počet aktivit srnců se nelišil na rozdílných stanovištích. Výstupy z bakalářské práce mohou být využity v myslivecké praxi.

Abstract:

Territorial behaviour is a type of behaviour characterised by individuals when defending a territory. Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) is seasonally territorial. Therefore, this speciesestablish and defend territories only at certain part of the year. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to compare the size of territory in two types of environment (forest and field). Other goals included identifying and evaluating the most frequently occurring activities of deer in two types of environment and evaluation of the number of activities in different habitats. Furthermore, the occurrence of agressivity was observed and compared in different time of the year. Such research has not been scientifically publishedyet. Observations took place around the village of Dobrčice in the Ústí Region, at four sites. A method of direct observation was used to obtain the data. Based on the data gathered, the territories in forest habitats were found to be smaller than in field habitats, as we had anticipated. Contrary to our assumption, it was found that the number of interactions did not differ in different habitats. The outcomes of the bachelor's thesis can be used in hunting practice.
