"Toxic behavior" in multiplayer games and the possibilities of its elimination

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá toxickým chováním v multiplayerových videohrách, obsahuje jeho definici, věnuje se druhům toxického chování v hrách a normalizací toxického chování. Pozornost je věnována toxickému chování mířenému na pracovnice v herním průmyslu, ženské hráčky nebo ženské postavy v hrách a pokusům o zamezení toxického chování ve videohrách, jak ze strany vývojářů, tak i hráčů. Druhá část práce je věnována výzkumu toxického chování v multiplayerových hrách, který byl proveden formou dotazníkového šetření hráčů a hráček multiplayerových her. Cílem bylo zjistit zkušenosti hráčů s toxickým chováním. Ve výzkumu je věnována také pozornost názoru na toxické chování mířeného na ženy.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with toxic behaviour in multiplayer video games, includes its definition, discusses types of toxic behaviour in games and the normalisation of toxic behaviour. Attention is paid to toxic behaviour directed at female workers in the game industry, female players or female characters in games and attempts to prevent toxic behaviour in video games, both by developers and players. The second part of the thesis is devoted to research on toxic behaviour in multiplayer games, which was conducted through a survey of male and female multiplayer gamers. The goal was to find out players' experiences of toxic behaviour. In the research, attention is also paid to the view of toxic behaviour directed at women.
