Attitudes of Czech Population Towards Partnership and Parenthood

Abstract:

Bakalářské práce s názvem Postoje české populace k partnerskému a rodinnému chování, se zabývá současnými formami partnerství a postoji k změněným demografickým trendům. Na kvantitativních datech, která byla sebrána v rámci šetření Druhého evropského srovnávacího výzkumu možných účinků populační politiky PPA2 (The Acceptence of Population–related Policies) pro Českou republiku v roce 2001, byly dotazníkovým šetřením získány odpovědi od respondentů. Cílem předkládané bakalářské diplomové práce bylo zjistit, nakolik lidé přijali změny rodinného chování, zda preferují manželství v tradiční podobě tzn. manželství nukleárního typy, zda akceptovali nové typy soužití, zvláště pak nesezdané soužití. Kladou lidé i v současnosti důraz na rodinný život a mají v jejich životě stále místo děti? V jakém typu rodinného soužití chtějí vychovávat své děti? Tyto okruhy otázek byly analyzovány a byly zjišťovány postoje a hodnotové preference respondentů, které zaujímají k těmto otázkám. Respondenti byli rozděleni podle demografických charakteristik na jednotlivé skupiny: podle pohlaví, věku, vzdělání, rodinného stavu a počtu dětí. Autorka se z těchto úhlů pohledu snaží popsat výše uvedené aspekty rodinného a partnerského života a zjistit, nakolik a jak silně je v postojích a hodnotách respondentů kladen důraz na rodinný život a rodičovství v jejich životě.

Abstract:

The thesis Attitudes of Czech Population Towards Partnership and Parenthood concentrates on the attitude of the Czech society to contemporary forms of partnership and parenthood. Based on quantitative data, which had been compiled within the investigation of The Second European Comparative Research of Possible Effects of the Population Policy PPA2 (The Acceptence of Population–related Policies) for Czech Republic in 2001, the respondents´ answers had been gained via questionnaire. This thesis aimed to find out to what extent people are willing to accept certain changes in family behaviour, if they endorse traditional marriage of the nuclear type and if and to what extent they have been prepared to accept new modes of living together, especially of the cohabitation type. Several questions arise: To what extent do people emphasis on family life at present and how important is the place of children in parental relationship? Which form of living together does contemporary man prefer for the upbringing of children? The analysis, which concerned itself with these questions, detected the respondents´ attitudes to the questions, in accordance with the demographic characteristic of the respondents. The respondents have been divided into several groups by these characteristics: sex, age, education, number of children and partnership. The author of this thesis aims for a description of the above mentioned aspects of family life and partnership within the given frame of reference and tries to find out, if and to what extent family life and parenthood is emphasised in the lives of respondents.
