Labour market participation of the second generation of Vietnamese migrants in the Czech Republic compared to their parents

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na zmapování Vietnamců druhé a jedenapůlté generace na trhu práce v České republice a komparaci s pracovním uplatněním jejich rodičů. Cílem je identifikovat mezigenerační rozdíly v této oblasti a analyzovat klíčové faktory při výběru vhodného pracovního uplatnění této skupiny. V práci je využito polostrukturovaného dotazníkového šetření mezi Vietnamci druhé a jedenapůlté generace. Výsledky ukazují, že Vietnamci druhé generace na rozdíl od svých rodičů preferují spíše práci v zaměstnaneckém poměru než podnikání a odvětví pracovní působnosti, která si vybírají, jsou rozmanitější. I přes to, že je vzorek dotazníkového šetření malý, a tím pádem limituje možnost generalizace na celou populaci, přináší tato práce vhled do zkoumané problematiky o mezigeneračních rozdílech v pracovním uplatnění vietnamských migrantů v ČR a může být potenciálně užitečná pro další výzkum v této oblasti.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on mapping of the second and one-and-a-half generation of Vietnamese on the labour market in the Czech Republic and a comparison with the employment situation of their parents. The aim is to identify intergenerational differences in this area and to analyse key factors that influence this group‘s choice of suitable employment. The paper uses a semi-structured questionnaire survey among the second and one-and-a-half generation of Vietnamese. The results show that second-generation Vietnamese, unlike their parents, prefer employment rather than entrepreneurship, and the work sectors they chose are more diverse. Although the small sample size of the questionnaire survey limits the possibility of generalization of the findings to the whole population, it could be concluded that this paper provides insights into the researched issue of intergenerational differences in the employment of Vietnamese migrants in the Czech Republic and may be useful for further research in this area.
