Mozek je velice složitý orgán sestávající se z mnoha různých buněčných typů, které dohromady musejí udržovat mikroprostředí, ve kterém jsou schopny plně fungovat. Musejí tak neustále odolávat toxinům z vnějšího, ale i vnitřního prostředí. K této obraně jsou buňky této tkáně vybaveny speciálními proteinovými pumpami – ABC transportéry. Brain is a very complicated organ consisting of many various cell types which together have to keep the micro environment in which they are able to work fully.
