Economic and social aspects of historical development in the area of Vrchlabí and the valley of the Little Elbe in the years 1918-1948

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje ekonomickému a sociálnímu vývoji v regionu Vrchlabí a údolí Malého Labe v letech 1918-1948. V teoretické části se studie zaměřuje na ekonomický a sociální vývoj zde před rokem 1918. V této části je popsáno utváření různých průmyslových odvětví v daném regionu, primárně rozkvět textilního průmyslu. Právě toto odvětví bylo naprosto dominantní, a tudíž další kapitola se zaměřuje přímo na textilní průmysl v pohraničí, a to od jeho rozkvětu až po časové vymezení zvoleného období. Praktická část pojednává o ekonomickém vývoji vybraného regionu, a to konkrétně aplikací na podnikových fondech, které autenticky vytváří obraz o reálné ekonomické situaci. Následně práce komparuje různé ekonomické veličiny a ukazatele a tato srovnání nejen popisuje, ale i kriticky hodnotí. Na základě adresářů o průmyslu analyzuje vývoj podniků a živností v období 1925-1938, kdy zachycuje vznik, setrvání, či zánik jednotlivých živností. V neposlední řadě je mezi jednotlivými obcemi srovnávána vybavenost a zaměření tamních živností. Z hlediska sociálních aspektů práce popisuje, k jakému vývoji došlo ve sledovaném období a opět komparuje data mezi vybranými obcemi.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with economic and social development in Vrchlabí region and valley of the little Elbe in 1918-1948. The theoretical part of the study focuses on economic and social development in region before 1918. This part analyses the formation of various industries in this region, primarily the flourishing of the textile industry. This sector was dominant, and therefore the next chapter focuses directly on the textile industry in the border area, from its greatest prosperity to the period under review. The practical part deals with the economic development of the selected region, specifically the application to corporate funds, which authentically creates a picture of the economic situation in the period under review. Subsequently, the work shapes the outputs from different sections of the period in the form of various economic variables and indicators. Based on directories about industry, it analyses the development of companies and trades in the period 1925-1938, when it captures the emergence, when it captures the origin, retention or demise of individual trades. Subsequently, it compares the equipment and focus of trades between individual municipalities. In terms of social aspects of the work, it analyzes what development took place in the period under review and compares data between selected municipalities.
