Irregularities and Imbalances in the Course of Epidermal Ridges: Family Factors

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na zkoumání vlivu rodinných faktorů na vývoj epidermálních lišt, konkrétně na rozložení typů minucií na lidských prstech. Podle současné teorie je vývoj minucií pod vlivem podmínek prenatálního vývoje a jejich variabilita by tak mohla odrážet různé vnější faktory těhotenství a další rodinné faktory. Praktická část zahrnuje statistickou analýzu dat, která zkoumá vliv různých rodinných faktorů na rozložení typů minucií BIF (vidlička) a RIG (konec linie). Výsledky ukázaly, že rozložení typů minucií se mezi pohlavími neliší, ani se neprojevil vliv pořadí narození jedinců. Naopak věk jedinců, věk rodičů při narození jedince, počet starších sourozenců a meziporodní interval mají statisticky významný vliv na poměr typů minucií. Budoucí studie by se proto mohly zaměřit na zjištění podrobnějších informací o těchto vztazích na jiném, větším vzorku.

Abstract:

This thesis focused on investigating the influence of familial factors on the development of epidermal ridges, specifically the distribution of minutiae types on human fingers. According to current theory, the development of minutiae is influenced by prenatal developmental conditions, and their variability could therefore reflect various external factors of pregnancy and other familial factors. The practical part involved a statistical analysis of the data, examining the effect of various family factors on the distribution of BIF (fork) and RIG (end of ridge) types of minutiae. The results showed that the distribution of minutiae types did not differ between the sexes, nor was there any effect of the birth order of the individuals. On the contrary, the age of the subject, the age of the parents at birth, the number of older siblings and the interbirth interval have a statistically significant effect on the proportion of minutiae types. Future studies could therefore focus on finding out more details of these relationships in another, larger sample.
