Cílem práce je zmapovat vývoj fotografie se zaměřením na reportáž a dokument a dokázat, že tento žánr, ačkoli se může zdát, že je v současnosti na ústupu, má stále velký význam. Teoretická část obsahuje obecnou historii a definici fotografie, poukáže na vztah mezi fotografií a uměním a popíše nejdůležitější teorie estetiky fotografie.
