Kmenové buňky nádorů jsou populace buněk schopných sebeobnovy a generování různých dalších typů buněk, které nádor tvoří. Jsou odpovědné za rezistenci vůči dostupné terapii. Existuje předpoklad, že tyto buňky vznikají ze zdravých kmenových buněk nacházejícich se v mozku a přetrvávajících i v dospělosti.
