Influence of negative thermotherapy on the regeneration and athletic performance

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá vliv negativní termoterapie na regeneraci a výkon u sportovce. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část obsahuje rešerši o dané problematice, charakteristiku regenerace, využití fyzikální terapie a účinky negativní termoterapie v kombinaci s hydroterapií. Praktická část pojednává o účinku negativní termoterapie ve formě hydroterapie, která se uskutečnila prostřednictvím případové studie. Testovaný jedinec absolvoval tréninkový protokol zaměřený primárně na čtyřhlavé svaly stehenní. Během tří dnů si vedl záznamy o stravě, pohybové aktivitě, pitném režimu, spánku a pasivním odpočinku. Pro následující týden byl stanovený stejný režim, kdy byla navíc aplikována hydroterapie. Na dynamometru se měřily hodnoty extensorů a flexorů kotníku a kolene. Regenerace se určovala podle subjektivního hodnocení bolesti dolních končetin na Borgově škále, kterou testovaný uváděl po dynamometrii. Z výsledků vyplývá, že procedura snižuje vnímanou bolest a na základě snížené bolesti se může zvýšit i výkon.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the influence of negative thermotherapy on regeneration and performance for athlete. The thesis is divided in theoretic part and practical part. The theoretic part contains a list of current knowledge about the issue, the characteristics of regeneration, the use of physical therapy and the effects of negative thermotherapy in combination with hydrotherapy. The practical part is about the effect of negative thermotherapy in the form of hydrotherapy, which was carried out throught a case study of subject. The subject made a training protocol primarily focused on thigh muscles. During the three days he kept a list of nutrition, physical activity, fluid intake, sleep and passive rest. The same regime was established for the next week when hydrotherapy procedure was applied additionally. The extensor and flexor values of the ankle and knee were measured on the dynamometer. Regeneration was determined by the subjective pain perception on the Borg CR−10 scale, which was established after the dynamometry. The results show that procedure lowers perceived pain which can leads to higher perfromance.
