Comparison of prefabricated housing estates Brno-Lesna and Brno-Kohoutovice

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o srovnání výstavby panelových sídlišť Brno-Lesná a Brno-Kohoutovice. Sídliště Lesná je známé svým promyšleným architektonickým a urbanistickým konceptem, který se zrodil na počátku 60. let 20. století v hlavách mladých architektů Františka Zounka a Viktora Rudiše. Architekti se při své práci inspirovali zahradním městem Tapiola ve Finsku. Sídliště Kohoutovice je postaveno okolo obce ležící v lesnatých kopcích nad Brnem, a svou polohou bylo do značné míry předurčeno, aby i ono mělo blízko k přírodě. Úvodem je představena historie výstavby sídlišť a panelových domů a stavu bytového fondu v Československu a městě Brně. V následujících kapitolách jsou představeny plány a podmínky výstavby, infrastruktura, doprava, postup stavby, a umělci, podílející se na výzdobě. V práci je použita i výzkumná metoda orální historie, která dokresluje podmínky stavby a klady propojení bydlení s přírodou na obou sídlištích.

Abstract:

This thesis discusses the comparison of the construction of prefabricated housing estates Brno-Lesna and Brno-Kohoutovice. Prefabricated housing estate Brno-Lesna is known for its thought-out architectural and urban concept, which was created by young architects Frantisek Zounek and Viktor Rudis in the early 60s. The architects was inspired by the garden city Tapiola in Finland. Prefabricated housing estate Brno-Kohoutovice was build around the village located in the wooded hills above Brno. The position of this housing estate destinate, that it is near to nature too. The history of the construction of prefabricated housing estates and prefabricated houses and the state of the housing stock in Czechoslovakia and the city of Brno are introduced at first. In the following chapters are presented the plans and conditions for construction, infrastructure, road and public transport, construction processes and the artists involved in decoration of both settlements. There is also oral history used as a research method for illustration of the conditions during the construction and housing estate connection with surrounding nature.
