Voting behavior of young adults during the parliamentary elections in 2013 in the Usti region

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je analýza politické participace a voličského chování mladých ve volbách do Poslanecké sněmovny v roce 2013 v Ústeckém kraji. Práce se opírá o kvantitativní výzkum, který zjišťuje, zda se mladí voliči, kteří mají významný vliv na budoucí směřování politiky a společnosti, zajímají o politické dění, které politické strany volili v parlamentních volbách a faktory, které stály za jejich rozhodováním při výběru strany a ochoty účastnit se voleb. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou, metodologickou a analytickou část. Teoretická část popisuje základní přístupy vysvětlující volební chování, které jsou poté testovány na mladých voličích z Ústeckého kraje, konkrétně tedy, vzhledem ke složení výzkumného vzorku, na vysokoškolských studentech. Jde o teorie třídního hlasování, stranickou identifikaci a tematické hlasování. Metodologická část přibližuje způsob tvorby dotazníku, výběr vzorku, následný sběr dat a další metodologické aspekty spojené s výzkumem. Analytická část poté předkládá výsledná zjištění.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of a political participation and a voting behavior of the young voters in the election of members to the Chamber of Deputies. We will focus on the election of 2013 which took place in Ústí nad Labem Region. The thesis is based on a quantitative research which finds out the young´s attitudes towards the political course of events. These young people have an essential influence on a future functioning of the policy and society. We will also pay attention to the political parties which were elected by the young voters and to the main factors which were significant within their conclusions relating to the participation and who to vote within the election. The thesis is divided into theoretical, methodological and analytical part. In the theoretical part there are described basic approaches which explain election behavior. These approaches are explored on the young voters from Ústí nad Labem Region, concretely on the university students. We will deal with three main theories of voting behavior: class voting, party identification and issue voting. Methodology of the research examination is focused on the formation of the questionnaire, selection of an assay, data acquisition and other methodological aspects connected to research itself. The analytical part of the thesis submits final ascertaining.
