Experiencing and perception of dance by dancers of different styles

Abstract:

Tématem naší práce je prožívání a vnímání tance se zaměřením na balet, moderní tanec, orientální tanec a street dance. Cílem naší práce je popsat prožívání a vnímání tance ve vztahu k sebesystému tanečníků a zjistit v nich případné rozdíly dané odlišnými tanečními styly. V teoretické části se nejprve zaměřujeme na psychologické aspekty tance a jednotlivých tanečních stylů, na jejich charakteristiky. Krátce se zmiňujeme o úloze tance v terapii a zároveň uvádíme emoční a kognitivní specifika tance a jednotlivé složky sebesystému. Výzkum byl realizován pomocí kvalitativních dotazníků, které nám vyplnilo 52 tanečníků, kteří se věnují jednomu z výše uvedených tanečních stylů. Dotazníky byly podrobeny analýze, díky které jsme došli ke zjištění, že v prožívání tance se tanečníci příliš neliší, ve svých výpovědích zmiňují podobná témata, pouze u tanečníků street dance a orientálního tance byla objevena specifická témata. Ani ve vnímání se nám nepodařilo objevit podstatné rozdíly.

Abstract:

The theme of this thesis is the experience and perception of dance, focusing on ballet, modern dance, Oriental dance and street dance. The aim of our thesis is to describe experience and perception of dance in relation to the self-systems of dancers as well as to determine differences among dancers accordig to various types of dance styles. Theoretical part will first focus on psychological aspects of dance and dance styles and on their characteristics. We briefly mention the role of dance in therapy and we also present emotional and cognitive specificities of dance and particular parts of self-system. Research was implemented by using qualitative questionnaires which were filled in by 52 dancers dedicated to one of the dance styles mentioned above. The questionnaires were analysed and we found out that the dancers do not differ very much in their experiences; that they state similar topics in their statements and that just among street dance dancers and oriental dance dancers appear specific topics. We have not detected any significant differences in perception as well.
