Creating a platform and setting up processes for sharing knowledge between Škoda Auto and other group brands to optimize the implementation of SAP system updates

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá neefektivním procesem release managementu v koncernu Volkswagen Group. Hlavním cílem této práce je optimalizovat proces realizace aktualizací vytvořením znalostní základny pro ukládání klíčových informací souvisejících s řešením potíží při aktualizacích systémů SAP. Práce se nejprve zabývá definováním důležitých pojmů týkajících se témat release managementu, knowledge managementu a popisem koncernu Volkswagen Group. K naplnění této části práce byla využita metoda literární rešerše. Následně se práce zabývá analýzou současného stavu release managementu v koncernu Volkswagen Group, která byla podkladem pro další analýzu, jež se věnovala identifikaci slabých míst v současném procesu. Veškeré nutné informace pro tuto část práce byly získány pomocí metody interview se zaměstnanci koncernu Volkswagen Group. Na základě výsledků této analýzy byl navrhnout upravený proces, který odstraňuje slabá místa v současném procesu. Další část práce se zabývá analýzou dostupných nástrojů pro vytvoření znalostní databáze a následným výběrem nástroje, který nejlépe splňoval definované požadavky. Poté již byla definována struktura znalostní databáze, která byla následně schválena zaměstnanci koncernu Volkswagen Group. Následovala tvorba znalostní základny s využitím nástrojů poskytovaných Vysokou školou ekonomickou v Praze. Po odsouhlasení návrhu zaměstnanci koncernu Volkswagen Group byl proveden přenos do prostředí Volkswagen Group. Poslední část práce se věnovala validaci vytvořeného řešení zaměstnanci koncernu Volkswagen Group, kteří potvrdili zefektivnění současného procesu, kterého bylo dosáhnuto díky vytvořené znalostní základně.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the inefficient release management process at Volkswagen Group. The main goal of this thesis is to optimize the release management process by creating a knowledge base for storing key information related to problem-solving during SAP systems updates. The thesis first defines important concepts related to release management, knowledge management and describes Volkswagen Group. The literary research method was used to fulfill this part of the thesis. The thesis then analyzes the current state of release management at Volkswagen Group, which served as the basis for further analysis focused on identifying weaknesses in the current process. All necessary information for this part was obtained through interviews with Volkswagen Group employees. Based on the results of this analysis, a modified process was proposed that eliminates weaknesses in the current process The next part of the thesis analyzes available tools for creating a knowledge database and selects the tool that best meets the defined requirements. The structure of the knowledge database was defined and then approved by Volkswagen Group employees. The knowledge base was created using tools provided by the University of Economics in Prague. After approval by Volkswagen Group employees, the database was transferred to the Volkswagen Group environment. The final part of the thesis focused on validating the created solution by Volkswagen Group employees, who confirmed the streamlining of the current process achieved through the created knowledge base.
