Interaction between medial and social reality – analysis of radio documentary series Good Will

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je analýza vztahů mezi mediální a sociální realitou a a pokus o určení, jak se tyto dvě reality vzájemně prostupují a ovlivňují. Soustředím se na zrcadlení společenské reality v mediálních textech, konkrétně v rozhlasových dokumentárních pořadech, a na zkoumání role, jakou v tomto procesu reflektování plní médium, žánr a samotný autor pořadu. Tyto vztahy zkoumám na rozhlasovém dokumentárním cyklu Dobrá vůle, který od ledna 2008 vysílá stanice Český rozhlas 2 – Praha, později Český rozhlas Dvojka. Pro srovnání jsem zvolila oblast hodnot a etických principů. První část práce tvoří kvalitativní analýza obsahu deseti pořadů z cyklu Dobrá vůle zaměřená na identifikování jejich hodnotového poselství a na je-jich slučitelnost s hodnotovou strukturou a možnými etickými principy současné české spo-lečnosti. Druhá část se zabývá autorskou reflexí tří pořadů odvysílaných v roce 2011, jejím cílem je určit, jakou roli hraje samotný autor při vytváření hodnotového poselství pořadu. Součástí autorské reflexe je také pokus vymezit další vlivy, které se podílejí na formování výsledné podoby pořadu, zejména ze strany mediální organizace a žánrových pravidel.

Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis is to analyse complex set of relations between medial and social realty, and to mark the way in which these two realities penetrate and influence one another. My concern is in the reflection of social reality in media texts, radio documentaries, and in the function of the genre, medium, and the author himself, in this process of reflection. I examine these relations as appearing in radio documentary series Good Will, that has been broadcast since January 2008 by the radio station Český rozhlas 2 – Praha. For comparison, I chose social values and ethical principles. The first part contains qualitative analysis of ten Good Will-programms, which is concerned about their value-message, and also with its similarities to value structure and ethical principles in contemporary Czech society. The second part contains the author‘s reflection of three Good Will-programms broadcast in 2011. It‘s goal is to define, what is the influence of the author himself on creating value message, and what other forces may influence the final version of Good Will-programm, especially these of media organization and genre.
